description abstractA review of the interactions of microorganisms and bubbles is presented. Particular emphasis is given to the damage that results when gas bubbles are introduced into animal and insect cell culture medium. The mechanism of this damage is presented as well as a discussion of the protective additives that have been found to reduce cell damage from gas bubbles. This review article has 43 references.
