| description abstract | By adopting a generalized definition of strain due to Seth, the stress-strain curves of metals in the work-hardening range can be linearized. The method of choosing the strain measure for linearization is explained and the significance of the constants in the straight line equation discussed. It is shown that the method works for cold-worked materials of unknown prestrain as well as for fully annealed materials. | |
