description abstractResults of a theoretical and experimental investigation of stresses in radially deformed perforated flanges are presented. The theoretical analysis considers the plane-stress problem of an annular disk perforated by a ring of equally spaced holes of equal diameter. The experimental portion of the investigation involves strain-gage determinations of stresses in flanges with various numbers of perforations in which the flanges are loaded by a special machine designed for the application of isotropic stress fields to circular bodies. Numerical results are given for a variety of configurations and edge conditions.
