description abstractAn analytical solution for the extended stress field of the fundamental problem of interfacial Somigliana ring dislocation in fiber-matrix composites is obtained. The result of this work provides a powerful tool which can be used to address a class of three-dimensional defect problems encountered in heterogeneous materials, such as fiber-matrix debonding, fiber pull-out, broken fibers and others, as well as interaction among defects.
