| description abstract | In this paper the concept of a fractal and its dimension is presented. The fractal dimension of the horizontal component of several wind speed time series is determined by the variation method. It is concluded that the fractal dimension D=1.60 can be used to describe the wind both at Windsor, MA, and Altamont, CA. The fractal dimension is related to the universal estimate of the decay rate of turbulent kinetic energy in the wind. | |
