description abstractA design method for safety and safety-relief valve test equipment is presented which is applicable to compressible media. A test stand pressure vessel is sized for an assumed ideal valve operation. In this way, a minimum size is determined which will allow the measured safety valve performance to be characteristic of the valve and not the test equipment.
