description abstractWe consider the main regularities of the arising of the dynamical chaos in weakly nonlinear oscillatory systems. We show that the chaotic oscillations in such systems can occur due to the destruction of quasiperiodic oscillations. Various analytical approaches are applied to study the properties of the quasiperiodically forced passive and active single-mode oscillators as well as the conditions for the appearance of chaos. The results of numerical and experimental investigations are also discussed.
