description abstractRules are given which allow the center and circle point curves of Burmester theory to be sketched rapidly and with reasonable accuracy. It is anticipated that these rules will be useful in teaching, in estimating solutions prior to computer studies, in checking computer results, and in carrying out exploratory design studies. Specifically, simple rules are given for identifying regions of the plane in which the curves may or may not exist, for finding the tangents to the curves at the poles, and for locating the asymptotes. Observations on the general behavior of the curves, helpful in sketching, are also included. A knowledge of the Burmester theory is assumed.
