description abstractA methodology for predicting the effects of wear on the rotation of a keyed connection subjected to reversing loads is presented. The approach couples an empirical relationship for wear with a finite-element analysis of the connection. Predictions of overall connection rotations as a function of the number of load cycles agreed well with the results obtained from experiments.
