| description abstract | The parabolic inverse boundary value problem is defined, and the major characteristics common to multi-dimensional parabolic inverse problems are discussed. These include sensitivity to measurement error and noise, the value of future time information, the nonuniqueness of estimates, and the effects of temperature dependent thermal properties. The importance of quantifying resolution degradation and estimate variances is discussed. | |
