| description abstract | In this note three of the better known theories for the calculation of elongation in the tension leveling process are compared, apparently for the first time. By plotting the results of each theory in a simplified form not previously seen, it is shown that the accuracy of the most complex theory is matched by a much simpler theory, thus eliminating the need for a numerical solution. This approach allows tension/elongation results to be read with confidence from a single linear plot for a wide range of materials and leveling conditions. | |
