description abstractAn approach to the development of “pressure-controlled” fluid-jet relays and amplifiers is proposed. The technique, based on experiments of a jet attaching to a flat wall, combines theoretical reasoning, experimental data, and graphical source-load matching. Single-control and symmetrical double-control amplifiers of a particular “knife-edge” design are used in the illustrations of the approach; typical data are given. Static and dynamic stability of the jet is emphasized including the criteria for oscillators.
