description abstractExperiments with straight-walled, two-dimensional subsonic diffusers having total divergence angles of 40, 60, and 80 deg and area ratios from 3 to 5 are reported. The performance of these diffusers was improved by means of vanes placed in the inlet section of the diffusers. The basic concept of the vane systems used and a procedure for their design are described.
