description abstractFor large industrial boilers and boilers for Conventional Power Plants extra supporting of the rear wall (designated as “membrane wall”) of the furnace is necessary. By supporting the wall at scattered supporting points, one obtains, besides reduction of the stress level, also improvement of the dynamic behavior of the wall. A solution method is developed in this paper for laterally loaded membrane walls supported at arbitrary points inside the edges. This solution is based on the analytical solution for orthotropic plates.
