description abstractImpact buckling of elastic bars with initial imperfections is studied. The latter are assumed to be a normally distributed random function of the space coordinate with given mean function and autocorrelation function. The initial imperfection and additional deflection function are expanded in terms of the vibration model of the corresponding perfect structure without an axial force. Fourier coefficients of the expansion for the initial imperfection function are simulated numerically, and the statistical behavior of the buckling time (time to first failure) is determined.
