ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Special Issue: Selected Papers From the International Youth Nuclear Congress 2020
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The International Youth Nuclear Congress (IYNC)1 was held in Sydney, Australia during 8–13 March, 2020, and cohosted with the Australian Young Generation in Nuclear (AusYGN).2 The IYNC and AusYGN are organizations, which ...
Lessons Learned From the European Union Referendum to Better Promote Nuclear Energy
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Investigation of Water Films Shed From an Airfoil in a HighSpeed Flow
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The breakup of liquid films in highspeed flows is found in many applications. These include prefilming air blast atomization found in fuel injectors and shedding of droplet off of airfoils. In this work, a test rig has ...
Comparison of Flame Describing Functions Measured in Single and Multiple Injector Configurations
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Recent investigations of combustion instabilities in annular systems indicate that considerable insights may be gained by using information gathered in singlesector experiments. Such experiments are, for example, employed ...
Thermal Post-Buckling Strength Prediction and Improvement of Shape Memory Alloy Bonded Carbon Nanotube-Reinforced Shallow Shell Panel: A Nonlinear Finite Element Micromechanical Approach
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This article reported first-time the post-buckling temperature load parameter values of nanotube-reinforced polymeric composite panel and their improvement by introducing the functional material (shape memory alloy, SMA) ...
Critical Review of ASME III Plasticity Correction Factors for Fatigue Design-By-Analysis of Nuclear Power Plant Components
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Despite significant technological progress in recent years, elastic–plastic fatigue analysis of pressure-retaining components remains a time-consuming venture. Accordingly, nuclear pressure vessel design codes such as ASME ...
Numerical Analysis of API 5 L X42 and X52 Vintage Pipes With Cracks in Corrosion Defects Using Extended Finite Element Method
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Cracks and corrosion in pipelines can occur simultaneously, representing a hybrid defect known as cracks in corrosion (CIC), which is often difficult to model using the available assessment codes or methods. As a result, ...
Cyclic Ramberg–Osgood Parameters of 316SS Weld Metal Under In-Air and PWR-Water Environments
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: At present, the available Ramberg–Osgood (R–O) parameters for different metals (e.g., in ASME code and other literatures) are static (generally based on a tensile curve). These static R–O parameters cannot accurately model ...
A Novel Wake Control Approach for Power Generation Improvement of Three Wind Turbines in a Wind Farm
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The total power generation of a wind farm is significantly affected by the adverse wake generation of upstream wind turbines on the aerodynamic performance of the downstream wind turbines. This paper aims to provide a novel ...
Mechanism Design and Control of a Winged Hovering Robot With Flapping Angle Constraint
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this paper, we first presented a fourbar linkage mechanism for actuating the wings in a flapping wing flying robot. After that, given the additional constraints imposed by the fourbar linkage, we parameterized the wing ...
