ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Parameter Identification for Electrochemical Models of Lithium-Ion Batteries Using Sensitivity Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Predicting the chemical and physical processes occurring in Lithium-ion cells with high-fidelity electrochemical models is today a critical requirement to accelerate the design and optimization of battery packs for automotive ...
Hierarchical Robust Energy Management of Hybrid Electric Vehicles
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This article proposes a hierarchical energy management strategy for power-split hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) in presence of driving cycle uncertainty. The proposed hierarchical controller exploits long-term and short-term ...
Analytical Model for Enhanced Eigen-Mode Sensitivities in a Coupled Micro-Resonator Array for Ultra-Sensitive Mass Measurement
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Resonant sensors using coupled micro-cantilever array have applications in a wide range of areas including ultrasensitive mass detection of bio-molecules and chemical analytes. A target mass deposited on one of the cantilevers ...
Investigating Trajectory-Based Combustion Control Using a Controlled Trajectory Rapid Compression and Expansion Machine
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This study presents a systematic framework for the real-time implementation of a new combustion control strategy—trajectory-based combustion control—for the operation of free piston engines (FPEs). The free piston engine ...
New Hammerstein Modeling and Analysis for Controlling Melt Pool Width in Powder Bed Fusion Additive Manufacturing
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Despite the advantages and emerging applications, broader adoption of powder bed fusion (PBF) additive manufacturing is challenged by insufficient reliability and in-process variations. Finite element modeling and ...
Adaptive Design of Experiments for Automotive Engine Applications Using Concurrent Bayesian Optimization
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Most practical automotive problems require the design of experiments (DoEs) over a number of different operating conditions to deliver optimal calibration parameters. DoE is especially crucial for automotive engine calibration ...
On Prandtl–Ishlinskii Hysteresis Modeling of a Loaded Pneumatic Artificial Muscle
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Modeling of the hysteresis nonlinearities of the pneumatic artificial muscle (PAM) is critical when it is proposed to drive various high-precision mechatronics applications. This letter aims to characterize the hysteresis ...
Robust Dynamic Modeling and Trajectory Tracking Controller of a Universal OmniWheeled Mobile Robot
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Omnidirectional mobile robots are widely used in studies and services as they are effective and efficient in moving in any direction regardless of their current orientation. These significant properties are very useful in ...
A Novel Platform Orientation System for ProportionalIntegralDerivativeControlled BallCatching Robot
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Ball catching by a robot is one of the challenging and complex control tasks that is extensively studied to achieve humanlike skills in robots. Over the last decade, several ballcatching robot designs have attained benchmarks ...
Mechanism Design and Control of a Winged Hovering Robot With Flapping Angle Constraint
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this paper, we first presented a fourbar linkage mechanism for actuating the wings in a flapping wing flying robot. After that, given the additional constraints imposed by the fourbar linkage, we parameterized the wing ...
