ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Optimizing Predictive Maintenance With Machine Learning for Reliability Improvement
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Predictive maintenance, as a form of pro-active maintenance, has increasing usage and shows significant superiority over the corrective and preventive maintenance. However, conventional methods of predictive maintenance ...
A Recent Review of Risk-Based Inspection Development to Support Service Excellence in the Oil and Gas Industry: An Artificial Intelligence Perspective
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Inspection and Maintenance methods development have a pivotal role in preventing the uncertainty-induced risks in the oil and gas industry. A key aspect of inspection is evaluating the risk of equipment from the scheduled ...
Evaluation of Risk and Uncertainty for Model-Predicted NOAELs of Engineered Nanomaterials Based on Dose-Response-Recovery Clusters
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Experimental toxicology studies for the purposes of setting occupational exposure limits for aerosols have drawbacks including excessive time and cost which could be overcome or limited by the development of computational ...
Uncertainty Quantification for Fatigue Life of Offshore Wind Turbine Structure
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This study aims to address the question: can the structural reliability of an offshore wind turbine (OWT) under fatigue loading conditions be predicted more consistently? To respond to that question this study addresses ...
Quantifying Uncertainty in the Residence Time of the Drug and Carrier Particles in a Dry Powder Inhaler
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Dry powder inhalers (DPI), used as a means for pulmonary drug delivery, typically contain a combination of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and significantly larger carrier particles. The microsized drug particles—which ...
Impact of Geotechnical Uncertainty on the Preliminary Design of Monopiles Supporting Offshore Wind Turbines
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The growing demand for clean renewable energy sources and the lack of suitable nearshore sites are moving the offshore wind industry toward developing larger wind turbines in deeper water locations further offshore. This ...
Uncertainty in Wave Basin Testing of a Fixed Oscillating Water Column Wave Energy Converter
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This research presents a methodology for carrying out uncertainty analysis on measurements made during wave basin testing of an oscillating water column wave energy converter. Values are determined for type A and type B ...
A Four-Step Safety Integrity Level Analysis of Numerous Subsea Control System Components
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this paper, a four-step safety integrity level (SIL) analysis is developed to analyze numerous components of the subsea control system based on the OREDA database. For this purpose, initially, a failure mode classification ...
Serviceability Assessment of Footbridges Via Improved Interval Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper studies the propagation of uncertainties on serviceability assessment of footbridges in unrestricted traffic condition based on a nondeterministic approach. Multipedestrian loading is modeled as a stationary ...
Targeted Reduction of p-Boxes in Risk Assessments With Mixed Aleatory and Epistemic Uncertainties
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The treatment of uncertainty using extra-probabilistic approaches, like intervals or p-boxes, allows for a clear separation between epistemic uncertainty and randomness in the results of risk assessments. This can take the ...
