ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

On the Difference Between Risk as Seen From the Perspectives of the Analysts and Management
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In its general form, risk is quantitatively described by analysts by identifying a set of consequences C of an activity and using a measure Q to express the uncertainties related to these consequences. This risk description ...
Seeded Fault Testing and Classification of Dynamically Loaded Floating Ring Compressor Bearings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper investigates a variety of signalmonitoring and datadriven processing techniques to classify seed faults imposed on floating ring main crankshaft compressor bearings. Simulated main bearing shaft motion using an ...
Interval Fractile Levels for Stationary Stochastic Response of Linear Structures With Uncertainties
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In the framework of stochastic analysis, the extreme response value of a structural system is completely described by its CDF. However, the CDF does not represent a direct design provision. A more meaningful parameter is ...
Reliability Analysis of Repairable System With Multiple Fault Modes Based on Goal Oriented Methodology
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper provides a new goaloriented (GO) method for reliability analysis of repairable systems with multiple fault modes. First, formulas of operators describing components with multiple fault modes are derived based ...
Risk and Uncertainty in Engineering Systems: Editor’s Introduction to the Aims and Scope of the ASCE ASME Journal of Risk and Uncertainty in Engineering Systems1
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Analysis of the Robustness and Recovery of Critical Infrastructures by Goal Tree–Success Tree: Dynamic Master Logic Diagram, Within a Multistate System of Systems Framework, in the Presence of Epistemic Uncertainty
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this paper, we evaluate the robustness and recovery of connected critical infrastructures (CIs) under a systemofsystems (SoS) framework taking into account: (1)آ the dependencies among the components of an individual ...
Uncertainty Management in Remanufacturing Decisions: A Consideration of Uncertainties in Market Demand, Quantity, and Quality of Returns
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: As market demand for remanufactured products increases and environmental legislation puts further enforcement on original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), remanufacturing is becoming an important business. However, profitability ...
Parameter Dependent Lyapunov Functions in the Robust Control of Discrete Linear Repetitive Processes Using Previous Pass Windowed Information
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The variables in multidimensional systems are functions of more than one indeterminate, and such systems cannot be controlled by standard systems theory. This paper considers a subclass of these systems that operate over ...
Intricate Interrelation between Robustness and Probability in the Context of Structural Optimization
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this study, we deal with the problem of structural optimization under uncertainty. In previous studies, either of three philosophies were adopted: (a) probabilistic methodology, (b) fuzzysetsbased design, or (c) ...
Special Section on Nonprobabilistic Approaches for Handling Uncertainty in Engineering
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Design processes involve several sources of uncertainties in loads and/or parameters that may seriously affect the estimates of performance and reliability of engineering systems. The selection of an appropriate mathematical ...
