ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Probabilistic Solution of a Duffing Type Energy Harvester System Under Gaussian White Noise
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper proposes a solution procedure to formulate an approximate joint probability density function (PDF) of a Duffingtype energy harvester system under Gaussian white noise. The joint PDF solution of displacement, ...
Infrastructure Decay Modeling With the Input Output Inoperability Model
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Asset management and infrastructure interdependency concepts are found to be useful in the study of infrastructure decay. As such, infrastructure decay is modeled with the inputoutput inoperability model (IIM), which is a ...
Special Issue on Decision Making Under Risk and Uncertainty Using Systems and Control Theory Approach
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A concerted effort was made to achieve broad thematic perspective and geographic representation. This special issue is intended to aid in increasing interest and expansion of the crossdisciplinary field of the quantification, ...
An Examination of Motorcycle Antilock Brake Systems in Reducing Crash Risk
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: To prevent wheel lockup (and possible lossofcontrol and capsize) during hard braking, motorcycle manufacturers have equipped motorcycles with antilock brake systems (ABS) either as an option or as standard equipment. Several ...
Nanoparticle Characteristic Interaction Effects on Pulmonary Toxicity: A Random Forest Modeling Framework to Compare Risks of Nanomaterial Variants
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Due to their unique physicochemical properties, nanomaterials have the potential to interact with living organisms in novel ways. Nanomaterial variants are too numerous to be screened for toxicity individually by traditional ...
Analysis of Stand Up Forklift Operator Injuries in Off the Dock and Tip Over Incidents With a Latched Door on the Operator Access Opening
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A series of tipover and offthedock impact tests were performed with standup forklifts to investigate the potential for injury to the operator of a forklift in these types of accidents, when the forklift is equipped with ...
Risk Assessment of Emergency Diesel Generator Subject to Design Basis Earthquake Shaking
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A monitoring system intended to track vibrations associated with the operation of an emergency diesel generator (EDG) at a nuclear power plant was originally installed to trip generators during potential outofbalance ...
Uncertainty Quantification of Turbulence Measurements in a Fully Pulsed Axisymmetric Subsonic Air Jet
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper reports the statistical accuracy evaluation of the implementation of ensembleaveraged equation used for the measurement of turbulence quantities in a fully pulsed, axisymmetricsubsonic air jet issuing into the ...
Corrosion Reliability Analysis Considering the Coupled Effect of Mechanical Stresses
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Corrosion is one of the most critical failure mechanisms for engineering structures and systems, as corrosion damages grow with the increase of service time, thus diminish system reliability gradually. Despite tremendous ...
PowerGen Gas Turbine Losses and Condition Monitoring: A Loss Data Based Study
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In situ condition monitoring (CM) is a crucial element in protection and predictive maintenance of large rotating PowerGen equipment, such as gas turbines or steam turbines. In this work, selected gas turbine loss events ...
