ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Comparative Study of Different Photovoltaic/Thermal Hybrid Configurations From Energetic and Exergetic Points of View: A Numerical Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: At present, only 20 percent of the incident solar radiation on the photovoltaic module is converted into electricity with the remaining dissipated as heat. The heat accumulation on the photovoltaic modules affects the ...
Optimal Sizing of Cylindrical Receivers for Surround Heliostat Fields Using fluxtracer
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This article presents an innovative approach for optimizing the dimensions of cylindrical receivers for solar tower systems. In this approach, a single set of rays, representative of a complete annual ray-tracing simulation ...
Experimental Investigation and Optimizing the Parameters of a Solar Air Heater Having Broken Arc-Shaped Ribs Using Hybrid Entropy-VIKOR Technique
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this article, thermal performance of a solar air heater (SAH) having broken arc-shaped ribs has been investigated experimentally, and then, performance parameters have been optimized. Study reveals that the use of ...
Efficiency Improvement of Photovoltaic Solar Modules by Cooling Using an Underground Heat Exchanger
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Overheating of solar cells under normal operational conditions highly reduces their energy harvesting efficiency and produces additional problems related to thermal cycling and performance degradation of the modules. In ...
A Reactor Train System for Efficient Solar Thermochemical Fuel Production1
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Thermochemical redox cycles are a promising route to producing solar fuels. In this work, a novel reactor train system (RTS) is proposed for the efficient conversion of solar thermal energy into hydrogen. This system is ...
Wind Power Deterministic Prediction and Uncertainty Quantification Based on Interval Estimation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: With the increasing penetration of wind power into modern power systems, accurate forecast models play a crucial role in large-scale wind power consumption and power system stability. To improve the accuracy and reliability ...
Investigation of a Novel Solar Powered Trigeneration System for Simultaneous Production of Electricity, Heating, and Refrigeration Below Freezing
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A solar powered trigeneration system consisting of tower solar collector, Kalina cycle with the heat exchanger, and ejector-absorption refrigeration cycle is proposed to produce refrigeration below freezing, electricity, ...
Prediction of Daily Photovoltaic Energy Production Using Weather Data and Regression
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents linear regression models to predict the daily energy production of three photovoltaic (PV) systems located in southeast Virginia. The prediction is based on daylight duration, sky index, average relative ...
A Statistical Methodology to Estimate Soiling Losses on Photovoltaic Solar Plants
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: One of the challenges in photovoltaic solar plants is the performance maintenance in the presence of adverse environmental conditions. Soiling on the solar panels is one of those challenges having a high decrease impact ...
Advanced SuDoKu-Based Reconfiguration Strategies for Maximum Power Extraction From Partially Shaded Solar Photovoltaic Array
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Individual performance of photovoltaic (PV) modules is contravened by mismatch losses which result in blockage in most of the solar power generated by the PV array (PVA). Partial shading conditions (PSCs) are the main ...
