ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

An Analysis of a Stationary Pneumatic Wave-Energy Converter
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A theoretical analysis of a stationary pneumatic wave-energy conversion device is presented. Results obtained from the analysis show that the power converted is proportional to the cube of the ...
Nonlinear Stress Analysis of Vertical-Axis Wind Turbine Blades
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A Darrieus-type vertical-axis wind turbine has been proposed as an alternate to conventional horizontal axis, propeller-type machines. An advantage is that the blades will be primarily in tension, ...
Compound Mounting Systems That Incorporate Dynamic Vibration Absorbers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The transmissibility across novel compound or two-stage mounting systems is discussed, and representative calculations of transmissibility are compared for systems with intermediate stages that ...

Pressure Distribution and Belt Deformation in V-Belt Drives
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Stress Concentration in Crowned Rollers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The edges of rollers in needle and roller bearings are crowned (i.e., rounded) in order to prevent large stress concentrations. At present, the crowning radius is determined empirically. In ...
On the Probabilistic Distributions of Stress and Strength in Design Problems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents an approach to obtain the stress and strength density distributions in reliability design problems. The density and cumulative distributions of the stress and strength are ...
