ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Speed- and Range-Based Filter Design for Dual-Stage Actuator Control
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Dual-stage actuators, which combine two actuators with different characteristics, have gained interest due to their large-range, high-resolution positioning capabilities. Control of such systems is challenging because it ...
A Novel Concept for Energy-Optimal, Independent-Phase Control of Brushless Motor Drivers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this work, a new drive concept for brushless direct current (BLDC) motors is introduced. Energy regeneration is optimally managed with the aim of improving the energy efficiency of robot motion controls. The proposed ...
Balancing Inverted Pendulum Cart on Inclines Using Accelerometers
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The balance of inverted pendulum on inclined surfaces is the precursor to their control in unstructured environments. Researchers have devised control algorithms with feedback from contact (encoders—placed at the pendulum ...
Assessing Impact of Understory Vegetation Density on Solid Obstacle Detection for Off-Road Autonomous Ground Vehicles
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In autonomous driving systems, advanced sensing technologies (such as Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) devices and cameras) can capture high volume of data for real-time traversability analysis. Off-road autonomy is ...
Trajectory Tracking Control for Rotary Drilling Systems Via Integral Sliding Mode Control Approach
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Active and passive control techniques have been devised over the years to mitigate the effect of vibrations on drill-string life with varying degrees of success. Here, it is proposed to design a robust trajectory tracking ...
An Efficient Design Procedure for MEMS Electrothermal Microgripper
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: With the development of miniaturization technology, micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) electrothermal microgrippers have been widely used owing to their compact size, ease of manufacturing, and low production cost. Since ...
Editorial
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: It gives me great pleasure to introduce the new ASME Letters in Dynamic Systems and Control (ALDSC). This is not only a new journal under the ASME banner, but it also represents a new type of journal offering for ASME. In ...
Yaw-Rate-Tracking-Based Automated Vehicle Path Following: An MRAC Methodology With a Closed-Loop Reference Model
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Concerning automated vehicles, various path-following controllers have been designed by the model reference adaptive control (MRAC) approach. Through appropriate Lyapunov redesigns, asymptotical stability and signal ...
Reviewer’s Recognition
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board of the ASME Letters in Dynamic Systems and Control would like to thank all of the reviewers for volunteering their expertise and time reviewing manuscripts in 2021. Serving as reviewers ...
Enhanced Tire Blowout Modeling Using Vertical Load Redistribution and Self-Alignment Torque
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Tire blowout impacts vehicle stability and creates challenges to vehicle control. To accurately evaluate the impact of tire blowout in different driving scenarios, a new tire blowout model is developed in this work with ...
