ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

An Extended Model for Determining Dynamic Loads in Spur Gearing
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this study a large scale digitized approach is used for an uninterrupted static and dynamic analysis of spur gearing. An interactive method was developed to calculate directly the variable ...
Evaluation of a High Performance Fixed-Ratio Traction Drive
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The results of a test program to evaluate a compact, high performance, fixed-ratio traction drive are presented. This transmission, the Nasvytis Multiroller Traction Drive, is a fixed-ratio, ...
Beyond the Known: Detecting Novel Feasible Domains Over an Unbounded Design Space
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: To solve a design problem, sometimes it is necessary to identify the feasible design space. For design spaces with implicit constraints, sampling methods are usually used. These methods typically bound the design space; ...

Analysis and Design of a Uniform-Clearance, Pumping-Ring Rod Seal for the Stirling Engine
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A uniform-clearance pumping ring, as opposed to the conventional taper-clearance one, is described. The uniform-clearance concept eliminates complex elastohydrodynamic problems and enables a simple ...
Discussion: “Ideal Spiral Bevel Gears—A New Approach to Surface Geometry” (Huston, R. L., and Coy, J. J., 1981, ASME J. Mech. Des., 103, pp. 127–132)
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Some Notes on V-Belt Drives
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper consists of four separate parts: 1) Radial penetration of a V-belt, 2) Formulas for axial forces, 3) Additional slip in varispeed drives, 4) Arc of contact in belt drives. There ...
Discussion: “A Numerical Solution to the Dynamic Load, Film Thickness, and Surface Temperatures in Spur Gears, Parts I and II” (Wang, K. L., and Cheng, H. S., 1981, ASME J. Mech. Des., 103, pp. 177–194)

Contact Stress Between Rollers With Surface Irregularity
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: To obtain fundamental data for research on surface durability of contacting bodies, contact stress between rollers with surface roughness or pit is analyzed. The increasing degree of contact ...
A Taylor Expansion Approach for Computing Structural Performance Variation From Population-Based Shape Data
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Rapid advancement of sensor technologies and computing power has led to wide availability of massive population-based shape data. In this paper, we present a Taylor expansion-based method for computing structural performance ...
